Is Entrepreneurial Enough? PDF Print E-mail

A recent article "About Face" by Robert Kiyosaki  presents some interesting concepts and ideas for companies planning to grow and what to look for in their employees. The article states that many companies have hired entrepreneurial type employees with hidden agendas. Kiyosaki states "Are entrepreneurs born or are they made? I still don't know the answer. But what I do know is that if you're going to grow your business, you need to be careful about who you bring in to do the growing. Entrepreneurs and employees are very different people."

Definition of an Entrepreneur: A person who organizes, operates, and assumes the risk for a business venture.

By the definition you would hope for an entrepreneur to bring your business success through taking risk taking. Well some entrepreneurs may take risks based on their personal gain thus leaving the business in jeopardy or poor financial standings.

Some of the positive things to watch for after changing top level "entrepreneurs" would be:

  1. Have new strategic alliances been formed and do they benefit the company?
  2. Has franchise opportunities been made available for the companies expansion efforts? Was this a good decision?
  3. How has the introduction of new products affected the company?
  4. Do your employees still have high morale or has the morale improved?
  5. Do your employees want to learn through financial education?
